Safeword: "Down"

Immediate, safe return to the ground

Anyone can call "Down" at any time (base, flyer, or spotter).

Once "Down" is called, the trick is over immediately.

No questions. No hesitation.

Bases and spotters guide the flyer safely and under control to the ground.

Safety comes before speed. Never drop or rush.

You can try again after a proper check in and evaluation of what went wrong.

Safety First

Be a spotting legend

Acro has real risks. We can’t remove them, but we can reduce them together.

If you’re performing, check your spotter is ready and knows what to do.

If you’re spotting, make sure you understand the trick and your role and pay full attention.

It’s okay to say no to spotting if you don’t feel confident or capable.

Take responsibility for your own safety, and support others in theirs.

Be aware of your surroundings, surface, and keep a clear, safe fall zone.

Progress & Self-Awareness

Train smart, not just hard

Warm up and check in with your body and mind before starting.

Don’t skip progressions. Build step by step.

Be honest about your level, energy, and mental state.

Your ability changes day to day.

Choose control over ambition.

Manage fatigue. Most injuries happen when you’re tired or rushing.

If something feels off, stop early.

Consent & Boundaries

Clear is kind

Set and communicate your boundaries, limits, and needs.

You’re not expected to play with everyone.

Respect the answer you get, without convincing, pressure or manipulation.

A “no” is a complete answer.

No Sexual Harassment

Zero tolerance

No unwanted advances.

No inappropriate comments, touching, or behaviour.

Respect personal space and context at all times.

If it’s not clearly welcomed, it’s not okay.

Communication

Clarity creates safety

Check in before trying something new.

Keep communicating during the practice.

Speak clearly, listen fully, and respond promptly.

Sober Practice

Fly sober, land safely

No acro under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or anything that negatively impacts your physical and mental state.

This is about safety for you and everyone around you.

Hygiene & Presentation

Close contact, keep it clean

Acro involves close contact and touch. Come clean and prepared.

Be mindful of your hygiene: hair, breath, smell, sweat, and nails.

Wear well-fitted clothing that keeps everyone comfortable, covered, and safe.

Respect & Inclusion

Everyone is Welcome

All bodies, genders, and backgrounds are welcome.

No racism, sexism, body shaming, or exclusion of any kind.

Be mindful of your words. Say “I’m not able to base this safely” instead of “You’re too heavy”.

Be mindful of different experience levels and power dynamics.

If you have more experience, lead with care.

Community & Accountability

We look out for each other

Your actions impact the whole community. Support each other and help keep the space safe.

If something feels off, speak up or reach out to a jam ambassador (organiser) or a member of the Network of Care (NoC).

Concerns will be taken seriously and handled with care.

This may include a conversation, a warning, or being asked to leave.

Create a space where people feel safe, included, and excited to be here.

That’s what makes an Acro Legend.
