AcroYoga South East Queensland
Safety & Care at the Jam

Acro involves real physical risk, including injury. We can't remove it, but we work together to reduce it. By taking part, you accept that risk and take responsibility for your own safety, and for supporting the safety of others.

Non-negotiable
Consent & Boundaries
Clear is kind. "No" is a complete answer — it needs no reason. Consent is always required and can be withdrawn anytime, even after a yes.
Non-negotiable
Safe Word: "Down"
No questions. No hesitation. Anyone can call "Down" anytime. The trick ends at once. Bases and spotters guide the flyer safely to the ground.
Safety & Spotting
When in doubt, use a spotter. Keep a clear fall zone and protect the head and neck. Use a spotter for new skills — anyone can ask for more, or more experienced ones, anytime.
Communication
Clarity creates safety. Check that base, flyer and spotter are ready before every attempt. Ask for what you need, instead of telling others what they're doing wrong.
Progress & Self-Awareness
Train smart, not just hard. Warm up and build step by step. Don't skip progressions. Choose control over ambition. If something feels off, stop early.
When It Goes Wrong
Pause. Check in. Decide. After any fall, make sure everyone is okay. If someone's hurt, stop and focus on getting the right care.
Respect & Inclusion
Everyone is welcome. All bodies, genders and backgrounds. Speak about your own limits, not the other person: "I'm not able to base this safely."
Community & Accountability
See something, say something. We all share responsibility for this space. A simple, respectful reminder is often enough — if it continues, follow the steps below.
Non-negotiable
Zero Tolerance
If it's not clearly welcomed, don't do it. No sexual harassment — no unwanted advances, comments, touching or behaviour that makes others feel unsafe.
Hygiene & Sober Practice
Close contact, keep it clean. Mind nails, hair, breath and well-fitted, non-slip clothing (no loose layers or jewellery). And practise sober — no drugs or alcohol, including when spotting.
Let's create a space where people feel safe, included, and want to come back.
